Going to the church is a bit like going to the gym.  It takes a bit of effort and commitment to get results.  And much like going to the gym, people often start with the best intentions but then they give up, or go a bit less often, and then disappear.  But, having the discipline of being part of something bigger than ourselves is really important in life.

Being part of a church doesn’t answer every problem you might have, but it encourages you to face life alongside other people who you would otherwise never have known. Churches are communities of tears and laughter, of the mundane and the special, of friends and even of a new family for you – a family of ordinary people, who bring their lives to God each time they meet, in prayer and praise.

Churches aren’t full of perfect people. Sometimes the heating isn’t great. Sometimes the sound system is 30 years old. Sometimes there are disagreements! Because churches are full of humans, of people like you and like me. People who want to know God better, who want to do something good in the world and who believe that we are not just meaningless bundles of matter. People who believe that there is a God who knows and loves everyone individually. People who believe that there is always room for second chances, for forgiveness and for new starts.
